From 17th to 20th February 2018 at IEG - Rimini expo centre the most complete expo of craft and special beers

.Rimini, 12th February 2018 . The specialty and craft beer market is increasingly expanding, a sector that in Italy has an overall value, between craft and industrial beer, of around 6 billion euros, with an increase in microbreweries, which rose from 113 in 2008 to 718 in 2017 (Source: Unionbirrai).

To this rapidly expanding sector, IEG - Rimini expo centre is dedicating two expos being held simultaneously from Saturday 17th to Tuesday 20th February.
In a few years, Beer Attraction, now at its 4th edition, has become a key business appointment for the sector: on show Italian and foreign speciality and craft beers matched with excellent food, thanks to the special Food Attraction section. The expo´s strategic partners are UNIONBIRRAI and FIC- Italian Federation of Chefs. Visitors include all the members of the food service trade, from beer and beverage wholesalers, through food distributors to all types of public venues.

Alongside Beer Attraction, the 2018 edition is hosting the debut of BBTech Expo, the trade fair dedicated to technology, equipment and accessories for the production and packaging of beer and beverages. On show the latest innovations in terms of processing, packaging and end-of-line products.

As well as the 505 exhibiting firms, of which 398 are at Beer Attraction and 107 at BBTech Expo, the two expos will be enriched by an extraordinary program of events and initiatives highlighting innovations, international business and training.


The feather in the expo´s cap is the Beer of Year Award, organized by UNIONBIRRAI in collaboration with IEG. Now at its 13th edition (the 5th at Rimini expo centre), this is the most prestigious national competition that every year elects the best Italian brewery. The 279 breweries taking part with 1,650 beers competing (20% more than the 2017 edition) will be judged by a qualified international jury, made up of 85 expert tasters from all over the world.

For the 2nd consecutive year, the Food Attraction section will host the Championships of Italian Cuisine, organized by the Italian Federation of Chefs, which will attract over 1500 professionals to Rimini and more than 500 competing chefs. Among the other new features at the 2018 event, also organized by the FIC, the Grand Prix of Mediterranean Cuisine, a contest with an international slant that will feature teams from three foreign countries (Cyprus, Spain and Slovenia) preparing menus based on the typical ingredients of Mediterranean cuisine.

In the BEER NEXT area, the focus will be on innovation: in collaboration with Seeds&Chips, a key organization at world level in the Food Innovation field, IEG will set up an Innovation HUB with 10 start-ups in the spotlight: a showcase of excellence bringing together the best innovations for the beer, food and technology for beer & beverage sectors. Plus, on Sunday 18th February the program features the ´Hack Beer Attraction´, a hackathon on innovative projects based on beer and food.

The BBTECH LAB on the other hand will be the core of the BBTECH events, 4 days of technical seminars and workshops organized in collaboration with Unionbirrai and with the most prestigious academic institutes such as the Department of Agri-food Science of the University of Udine, CERB - Italian Brewing Research Centre of the University of Perugia and DIEFFE .
